The Eagle Eye 2024: Vol 1 No 1 | Good Performances By Eagles At Douglas Forrest Meet

The XLCR Eagles had some noteworthy performances at the Douglas Forrest Invitational Track and Field Meet yesterday at the Stadium East track. The Eagles had 9 gold medal accomplishments with the Lady Eagles adding another 3.

Daneil Wright, the 2023 NACAC U-18 sprint hurdles Champion and Commonwealth Youth Games Intermediate Hurdles Champion, was in good nick as he easily won the CLASS 1 Boys 400 Meter Hurdles in 53.05. With his more accomplished senior teammate as motivation, Demarco Bennett, himself a Jamaica national representative and Carifta Games medallist, won the CLASS 2 Boys 400 Meter Hurdles in 54.07.

Fourteen year-old Daniels, in his first outing as a middle distance athlete could have had a double, but for a disqualification in the 800m. Earlier in the day, he had seemingly won the shorter race in equally devastating style, only to be DQed for a lane violation.

Meanwhile Daniels' senior middle distance training partner, Keandro Gordon, was even more dominating, leading from gun to tape in taking the Class 1 Boys 800m. Gordon returned later, to anchor the Eagles to victory in the 4x400m Relay.
