Today October 6, 2023 is being celebrated internationally as National Coaches Day. The Jamaica Track & Field Coaches Association (JATAFCA) joins other national and international sporting bodies in recognizing the day and will be honouring a number of local coaches, for their long and distinguished service to the nation. The awards ceremony will be held on November 11, 2023, and will see honours being conferred in 4 categories: Silver (20-25 years), Gold (26-30 years), Platinum (30-40 years) and Lifetime Award (Over 40 years). 

 

Three XLCR Eagles coaches will be among those receiving awards:

 

1.  Coach Patrick Johnson - Eagles Middle Distance Coach will be receiving a Lifetime Award

2.  Coach Michael Vassell - XLCR Lady Eagles Head Coach & Throws Coach will receive a Platinum Award.

3.  Coach David Riley, XLCR T&F Technical Director and Boys Head Coach will receive a Silver Award.

 

Congratulations to these outstanding coaches who have served the Excelsior T&F Programme and our nation with distinction. Kudos also to all the other coaches being honoured, who have made many sacrifices in serving our athletes and nation over many years.
